The Taste of Bessemer returns April 20

The Taste of Bessemer is an opportunity for local vendors to interact with potential customers.


The Third Annual Taste of Bessemer and Business Expo is set for the evening of Thursday, April 20 at the Bessemer Civic Center, 1120 Ninth Avenue SW. The event, organized by the Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce, features live entertainment, food and business display vendors and fun for the entire family. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the event will last until 7 p.m. The Taste of Bessemer started in 2015 and has grown in size each year of its existence. Last year’s event drew over 500 people to the Bessemer Civic Center. Attending vendors last year included local favorites such as Bob Sykes BBQ, the Bright Star and up and coming establishments, caterers and local businesses . Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce president Latasha Cook said the Taste of Bessemer allows restaurants and other businesses in the city an opportunity to showcase their products to potential customers. “This event gives attendees an opportunity to come and see some of the businesses that make Bessemer great,” Cook said. “The vendors (last year) were very happy with the response from the community. The majority of our vendors said they saw an increase in new customers following the event.” Tickets are currently on sale. The cost is $15 per person or a pack of 25 tickets can be purchased for $250. Deadline to purchase tickets is April 13. Interested in becoming a food vendor? The cost is $50 for Chamber members and $100 for non- members. The cost to become a business vendor is $100 for Chamber members and $200 for non-members.
