Alabama Splash Adventure opens thrilling new season on May 26

Alabama Splash Adventure owners say the park’s future is “brighter than ever.”

It’s time for another exciting season of slides and rides as the summer kicks off with a splash on Friday,  May 26, with the opening of a new season at  Alabama Splash Adventure. As Alabama Splash Adventure enters its fourth season under the ownership of the Koch family, the future is brighter than ever, owners say. Pat Koch “The General” and son Dan Koch have over 60 years of experience in the amusement and waterpark industry. Over the past four years the family has rebuilt the park by adding new amusement attractions and restoring the world-famous Rampage wooden roller coaster. New additions to the park this year include:
  • Private, luxurious pool side cabanas that can seat up to eight guests.
  • Birthday party packages.
  • A new bridge that connects the water park to the amusement park.
Other amenities such as free parking, free soft drinks, free sunscreen, free life jackets and free Wi-Fi have been added as well since the Koch’s assumed ownership. There’s also a free float rental for the lazy river and the slides. One low price will get you into two theme parks that deliver wet and dry attractions in one location. Even the laser challenge game on Main Street is free with admission. The ownership initiatives have  paid off. Last year, the park saw an 11 percent increase in attendance, compared to 2015. Overall, the park’s attendance has increased 40 percent since 2014 when the Koch family purchased it. “This park is on the move in a good direction,” said Dan Koch.  “If you’ve been in the park in the past, you’ll definitely notice the positive changes,” Koch said. “We are focusing on the theme park and the water park, food, service and hospitality.” Alabama Splash Adventure is located at 4599 Splash Adventure Parkway in Bessemer. The park is just minutes from downtown Birmingham. Bring in a can of Pepsi or other Buffalo Rock products and receive $5 off your ticket or $10 off food or merchandise in the park. Guests can also visit Central Alabama McDonald’s Restaurants and pick up a coupon tray liner. A portion of the ticket proceeds from the McDonald’s coupons will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama.
