Statewide Mask Order Extended Through August 31st

 STATEWIDE MASK REQUIREMENT EXTENDED: Alabama Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday, July 29th 2020, announced an extension of the state’s mandatory mask regulations through Monday, August 31 at 5 p.m.
The previous order, issued on July 15, was set to expire on Friday, July 31st. Gov. Ivey’s order requires anyone out in public to wear a mask and practice social distancing where possible. The statewide order applies to all businesses and events in the city of Bessemer. The new order extends mask requirements to schools and colleges. The city of Bessemer still requires anyone entering a public building to wear a mask. City buildings which remain closed at this time include the Bessemer Recreation Center and the Clubhouse at the Frank House Municipal Golf Course.
