The schedule includes city office closings. There will be no garbage or trash collection on days in which city offices are closed. Garbage will be collected on the next scheduled garbage day for Bessemer households. 

Friday, December 24 – All City Offices closed for Christmas Eve.
Monday, December 27 – City Offices closed.
Friday, December 31 – City Offices closed for New Year’s Eve.
Monday, January 3 – City Offices closed in observance of New Year’s Day.

UPDATE: The Annual Christmas Parade has been postponed until Saturday, December 18 at 2 p.m. due to the threat of rain and inclement weather.  Also, the parade route has been shifted to begin at First Avenue North and 19th Street, travel down 19th Street to 8th Avenue  North where it will cross to 18th Street North and continue to First Avenue North and end at Alex Bradford Park.


Boys and girls of all ages are invited to attend the city of Bessemer’s Annual Christmas Parade, slated for Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 2 p.m. in Historic Downtown Bessemer.
The Bessemer Christmas Parade is one of the largest in Alabama. The parade returns after a one-year absence in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme of this year’s parade is “A Cure for Christmas” and the parade will promote cancer awareness.
The parade route is slated to start. at First Avenue North and 19th Street .
The parade will feature floats, decorated vehicles, music and a visit from Santa Claus. Come and celebrate the holiday season in Bessemer.
The Bessemer Christmas Parade is hosted each year by the Bessemer Area Chamber of Commerce.
