Spring into a lifestyle of fun and fitness with Bessemer City’s new health campaign— ACTIVE, FIT, HEALTHY BESSEMER. Mayor Kenneth Gulley hosted the first annual “Walk with Mayor Gulley”, on Sat. April 1st, 2017, as part of the new health and wellness initiative. These informal city gatherings will start from a new location, exploring the avenues of our metropolis, neighborhoods, city parks, and local businesses every month, ending with the last walk of the season, on Saturday, August 26, 2017.
The movement— ‘ACTIVE, FIT, HEALTHY BESSEMER’ is here to stimulate a desire for health education, fit culture, and active living. This collaboration between the city, and the Bessemer City Rec Center, is a partnership with UAB Minority Health and Alabama Obesity Action Coalition, in an effort to broaden health and fitness awareness in Bessemer. We are striving to garner city-wide participation from our patrons to push our city’s health consciousness forward in 2017.
Mayor Gulley kicked off the health initiative with the city’s first walk on Saturday April 1st, 2017, at the Bessemer City Recreation Center.
