Mission Statement
The mission of the Information Technology (IT) Department is to provide comprehensive and innovative support services and training to all City of Bessemer Departments.
Technology Services
The Information Technology Department provides centralized IT service to approximately 550 users working in 9 departments. The IT Department manages enterprise-wide municipal applications for Finance and Human Resource Systems, Utility Customer Billing, 911 Emergency Systems and Geographical Information Systems. This department plans and coordinates IT projects and activities to ensure desired outcome.
The City Website continues to be enhanced, under the guidance of the IT Department, as a tool for residents, employees, business owners and visitors of the City of Bessemer. It provides easy access to important city resources and information as well as the ability to transact business remotely through services such as online payments of traffic citation. Overall, the Information Technology Department serves as technical consultants and provides desktop, network, application, and system-wide technology management.
